Marie achieves prestigious Queen's Nurse title

 Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS are delighted to share the news that Nurse Marie Hawkins has been made a Queen’s Nurse. 

Queen’s Nurses are recognised for their high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice. There are fewer than 1,400 Queen's Nurses in the 600,000-strong nursing workforce. 

​Marie began her nursing career in 1989 working in a variety of roles including orthopaedics, district nursing and practice nursing across Shropshire, West Birmingham and the Black Country. 

She currently holds the roles of General Practice Nurse Champion and Nurse Facilitator for Future Proof Health Training Hub, Nurse Ambassador and Digital Nurse Champion. Marie also mentors colleagues and students across a number of courses. She is Chair of the Royal College of Nursing for the Black Country Branch and has completed the Rosalind Franklin Leadership course. Marie has an interest in respiratory nursing and works with Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS at the Pensnett Assessment Centre. 

Paul Assinder, Chief Executive for Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS said, ‘Marie is a true inspiration and we are very fortunate to benefit from her dedication, skills and experience of over thirty years.’ 

Marie said, ‘It is a real honour to achieve this award and I am passionate about primary care and practice nursing. I enjoy the challenges that modern nursing brings and enjoy mentoring and supporting nurses in sometimes what can be a very isolating job.’
